Hooqy Media also receives more advertisers email about Christmas online promotion. Due to the tight marketing budget, the advertisers make sure their spending which is used wisely.
According to the consumer 2009 Christmas spending result from Burst Media, there is 85.3% of respondents will shop online for preparing their Christmas holiday.
The following is the respondent income segments which will prepare Christmas spending in 2009:
• 29.5% of respondents reporting household income (HHI) of less than $35,000 cutting holiday spending,
• 46.3% of households reporting HHI of $35,000-$75,000
• 31.3% of households reporting HHI of $75,000 or more
Regarding the consumer behavior during Christmas holiday season, the survey finding that:
• 79% say budgeting, and 60% say matched quality to name brands remain leading reasons for the switch to private label.
• 92% of consumers will do grocery store holiday shopping based on sales, discounts, product selection, and in-stock items.
• 23% of shoppers have a gift-giving budget over $799, down 13% from 2008
• 11% more plan on budgeting up to $499 this year for gifts than in 2008
• 71% of consumers will not be giving food as gifts this year
• only 18% will be making their gift purchases without a shopping list.
• An 18% increase in online shopping from 2008 is expected, when only 41% of consumers shopped online.
However, after the advertisers have seen this survey, they still have no confidence. They cannot make the decision. So we recommend they can consider spending small budget for “Black Friday” [the day after Thanksgiving] before the official Christmas promotion. We make sure that taking the advantage of “Black Friday” can help the advertisers to build confidence and awareness.
